SAVOR...SMG and Razorgator Team Up for Third Year
SAVOR...SMG Teams with RAZORGATOR for 2010 Rose Bowl and BCS Games
Pasadena, CA, December 2009 -- New Year's Day 2010 will be busy for SAVOR by SMG as it provides all food and beverage services for the Rose Bowl Official Hospitality Village in Pasadena. For the third consecutive year, RazorGator Experiences, the world's leading event experience company, has contracted SAVOR to cater the numerous corporate and private parties held at Hospitality Village between the parade festivities and kickoff for the Rose Bowl game.
In addition, RazorGator has commissioned SAVOR to fulfill the same responsibilities for the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), the NCAA national championship game slated at Rose Bowl stadium a week later.
Often called "The Granddaddy of Them All," the Rose Bowl game typically draws a sell-out crowd, and nowhere is the mood more celebratory than at Hospitality Village where several thousand guests congregate for simultaneous private parties held under more than a dozen gigantic tents. The BCS Games are equally well-attended, with parties at Hospitality Village drawing some 5,000 guests.
SAVOR's menu packages for the Rose Bowl and BCS events range from simple "Pitstop" fare of hamburgers and hotdogs and chips for groups up to 4,000 to lavish buffets for entertaining corporate and school athletic team VIP guests.
In keeping with Southern California's typically sunny weather and the festive bowl game mood, SAVOR has created several themed menu choices, from Backyard Grill to Mediterranean, All-American to Baja Fiesta. The entrée choices include such SAVOR chef specialties as bourbon-glazed BBQ chicken, Spanish paella, smoked beef brisket, carne asada, chimichurri pork tenderloin and baby back ribs.
The entire SAVOR menu and service program focuses on locally produced, farm-to-table freshness, sustainable seafoods, and compostable disposableware for food and beverage stations.
In addition to bringing in culinary and service employees from nearby Long Beach and Ontario as well as other regions across the United States, SAVOR will boost the local employment picture by hiring temporary workers from Pasadena area nonprofit groups, culinary schools and staffing agencies.
"Great food and beverages are so much a part of any celebration," says Wes Westley, president and CEO of SMG. "SAVOR is totally dedicated to making sure that guests at the Rose Bowl and BCS games ring in the New Year with fanfare, festivities and fun."

Long Beach Area Non-Profit Groups again team up with SAVOR….
for The Women’s Conference 2009
In the true spirit of the Women’s Conference, 200 plus volunteers from ten Long Beach area schools and community organizations arrived at the Long Beach Convention Center sleeves rolled up and ready to help the chefs prepare the 11,000 plus lunches which were served on October 27th. In addition to their efforts behind the scenes leading up to the event, they were an instrumental link in the orchestration of the lunch service.
Jean Hartman, Non-Profit Coordinator for SAVOR…Long Beach “is thrilled with the enthusiasm and commitment from our local community toward this event, there is defiantly a symmetry between the fundamental nature of The Women’s Conference, the philosophy of the non-profit organizations and Savor…”. Students and parents form St. Maria Goretti School, Millikan, Jordan, Los Alamitos, Gahr, Loara and Huntington Beach High Schools representing marching band, ROTC, football, and basketball teams were there with helping hands. A tremendous commitment will also be seen from the Musical West Theater Guild and the Long Beach Junior Concert Band.
The dedication and energy of each and everyone who dedicated their time and efforts are, as always, gratefully appreciated by all associated with the Conference.
If you are associated with a non-profit organization or school in the Long Beach CA area, and would like information on SAVOR’s… non-profit fundraising partnership, please contact Jean Hartman at (562) 230-1928.

Seafood for The Future

SAVOR…
SAVOR… in exclusive partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific, is excited to join in the Seafood For the Future program, for the past 5 years we have been serving sustainable seafood to all of our guests. We do this at every location as well as for all the special events here at the Aquarium. With the growing concern for ecologically sound practices, Seafood For the Future ensures that all the fish we serve is harvested in ways to allow these species and their ecosystems to survive and flourish throughout future generations.
We are presently expanding our support for the Seafood for the Future program by offering sustainable seafood options on our menus, not just at this venue but also at venues across the country within our organization. We hope this will increase the awareness of our clientele and encourage them to educate themselves towards making more earth-wise choices.
SAVOR … currently works with distributors that share the same passion for sustainability and eco-friendliness, and as concerned about our environment as we are.

WasteCon Event
This week the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center has the pleasure to host the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) for WASTECON 2009. The show draws professionals within the solid waste management industry to learn about the newest trends and developments, network and experience cutting-edge exhibits. Since a main focus of the program will be solid waste management and reducing the effects of waste on the environment, our recycling programs and how we handle our discarded items will be at the center of attention.
Local government officials have all eyes on Long Beach as we service this important client this week.
SAVOR... has been working closely with the City of Long Beach to "beef up" the current recycling program. The City was kind enough to provide additional recycling containers, as well as large "Recycle Here" signs that will be sure to grab the attention of attendees. Also, we have taken extra steps to ensure that recycled materials are sorted by adding signage to recycling bins so that guests are sure to choose the proper receptacle. We hope that these most recent initiatives will help to minimize our carbon footprint for this and future events here in Long Beach.
